Mapping The Research Landscape of Green Economy and Sustainable Development Goals: A Bibliometric Analysis of Decisive Decade (2016-2025)

This bibliometric study systematically maps green economy interventions for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement during 2020-2030. Analyzing 250 Scopus articles (2016-2025) using R bibliometrix and VOSviewer, we examined publication trends, thematic evolution, collaboration networks, and knowledge gaps. Results reveal exponential growth (35.1% CAGR) with 92.4% published post-2020. Three clusters emerged: Environmental Impact, Technological Innovations, and Conceptual Frameworks. Keyword analysis identified "green economy," "sustainable development," and "SDGs" as central concepts. Geographic concentration appeared in Asia (60.4%) and Europe (29.6%), with critical gaps in Africa (7.2%) and Americas (2.8%). Thematic mapping revealed motor themes (green economy frameworks, SDG implementation) driving field evolution, while basic themes (energy efficiency, climate change, economic growth) remained underdeveloped despite empirical attention. Post-2023 emerging themes included environmental quality, green buildings, and carbon sequestration. The study identifies actionable priorities: geographic diversification emphasizing underrepresented regions, methodological strengthening through quasi-experimental designs, outcome expansion addressing employment and equity, and enhanced cross-regional collaboration particularly strengthening Africa-Americas connections for remaining decisive years.
